One of my favorite things about parties for little ones is how all the kids want to help open presents...and play with them immediately. It was so cute! Noah got lots of wonderful presents...we are so grateful for the generosity of our friends and family.

I had wanted to do something really creative with Noah's cake...but I just ran out of time. I did make him a carrot cake from scratch with homemade cream cheese frosting...YUM!

Noah's first birthday...at the beach!
I know, Noah is ONE!! This year has flown by so fast...every day has been such a blessing. Yes, I'm behind, Noah actually turned one over 2 weeks ago now, but I'm catching up tonight, so relax. The weekend of his actual birthday Matt had to go to Atlanta for business, so Noah suggested we take a little road trip, just the two of us. We went to Va Beach to visit some friends. Friday night was pretty rough since Noah's first molar decided to make it's appearance for his birthday. Despite the rough night, Noah ended up having a really fun weekend.
Anna and I took Noah down to see the beach on Saturday. He loved it. I think he would have been happy to stare at the ocean all day.
As you can see it was pretty windy, but an otherwise perfect April beach day.
Kate had set up a little party for Noah at her house for Saturday evening. (In case everyone doesn't know this...balloons are the BEST toy - way to go Kate!) Noah got to play with Hakon, and I got to visit with Kate, Anna, Beth, Liz and Southern.
Southern made Noah his first cake...
Noah did try to blow out the candles himself, but couldn't quite do it.
"Hmm, I like this cake stuff..."
"...I really like this cake stuff..."
"Mommy, Mommy please give me more of this yummy cake!!!"
Noah and Hakon had fun playing together. Could they be any cuter?
Noah likes having the carseat forward facing, and so do I. He did AMAZING on the trip home (yes, I was worried). He watched the cars and played for the first 30 minutes or so and then slept almost the entire rest of the way home. I actually got to drive 4 hours with no stopping during the day, with Noah in the car...YES! (Quite the testament to how exhausted he was after his super fun weekend at the beach.)

Kitchen Shenanigans
I think this may be the first time I've posted a picture taken on the same day as the post...impressive right? Oh, duh, yesterdays post was of pictures from yesterday...two days in a row, same day pics...SUPER impressive! Anyway Noah is obsessed with the kitchen. He wasn't allowed in at all until this week, so now that we let him in occasionally he absolutely loves it. This morning he grabbed a kitchen towel and was hitting his reflection in the oven door with it. A picture and a video...so you can more fully experience the cuteness.

...and isn't it so cute how he sits on his knees?

Sport of choice...soccer?
Noah loves to play with
balls. "Catch" has been a long time favorite game, and now that he's working on walking he likes to kick the ball too. He only kicks with his right leg and his kick is really more like a push, but he loves it. The ball he's playing with is possibly the best $4 I ever spent. He loves the "Little Einsteins" show on the Disney channel (the characters on the ball). No, we don't really watch tv with him, but this show is 20 minutes long and has tons of singing and interaction.
The first time he watched part of it with Matt he started clapping along with the characters. Once, Matt pulled up the intro credits on YouTube to play for Noah, and he got really upset when the song was over and the show didn't start. Precious. Oh, and how cute are these pjs?
