19 lbs and 27 inches

Noah and I just got back from his latest checkup and he is a whopping 19lbs, 27 inches, and has a head circumference of 17.75 inches. That's my big boy! This time I asked the nurse to have a 2nd nurse hold him for the shots which worked much better - I highly recommend it. Noah got to look at me and held onto my fingers during the sticks. He did wail of course, but as soon as the bandaid was on I got him back from the nurse and he stopped crying almost immediately. He fell asleep in the carseat on the way home and I'm guessing will remain asleep for a long long time. What a brave boy!

Alton Brown, Avocado and the ER

Anyone that has spoken to me recently knows that I have gotten hooked on the food network. This began when Noah was first born, and I spent most of my day nursing...and not able to maneuver to actually read while doing it (yes I tried - not worth the trouble). So I settled on the Food Network. There is a huge variety of shows and personalities to choose from, and there are so many things to learn. Since I've taken up this Food Network habit I have started pretending to be a gourmet chef (meaning I bought some Kosher salt to cook with (which does make a HUGE difference by the way - I no idea), and I've been using the big scary chef's knife for every day purposes). One day while watching Good Eats with Alton Brown I learned the proper way to pit an avocado. While I have used this method several times without incident, this past Sunday I had a little accident. The knife (not the huge chef knife - praise the Lord!) slipped and I cut my ring finger. Not too bad...but bad enough that I couldn't get my wedding band off...so I ended up having to get my ring cut off and 2 stitches to top it off. At least I know a good jeweler that can fix my ring. I must say that I was annoyed that I had to leave during some of my precious Noah time to go to the hospital for such a dumb accident. On the way I was really frustrated...then I realized how incredibly grateful I was that I was the one going to the hospital and not Noah. God is good!
Moral of the story: accidents can always happen no matter how much Food Network you watch.

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD AND GRAMMIE!

Rice Cereal!!!

On Saturday Noah got his first taste of rice cereal. The pictures say it all...

The spoon is his friend even if the cereal isn't yet.

4 Months!

Noah turned 4 months old on the 4th...INSANITY!

I was so excited one morning when I found Noah holding his feet. I woke Matt up and made him rush over to look, and he said, "I've seen him do that before." Just a reminder of how different moms and dads are. It's not like holding his feet is a huge milestone, but it's a fun new thing that I didn't realize he was doing...oh Matt!

Noah likes his jumper...but for now he hasn't really figured out the jumping function. He likes to stand and every once in a while he'll swing himself around.

So cute...

...so very cute!

Learning Curve

Noah loves to sit up...but he cant stay up on his own yet.

He starts out pretty solid...leaning forward a bit...

...then he leans a bit too much to one side...

...and then he's on his side...

...and finally he ends up on his back. Precious!

Visit from Grandaddy

My dad was finally able to come meet Noah. Noah loves his Grandaddy and hopes that he's safe in Pakistan.

Family Night

Micah is almost 4...AHH! He put gel in his hair that day and he knew how cute he looked.

Riley is 2.5 months older than Noah...but doesn't weigh nearly as much.

He is standing SO well...

...and still loving bath time!

Oh Baby!

Oh the sitting!

Oh the smiles!

Oh the chin!

He loves his hippo gym (thanks aunt Rachel) and his Elephant (thanks Sarah) and plays with them every day.

He has discovered that he can knock out the toy bar with his legs...Oh so funny!

Beth's Wedding Weekend Extravaganza!

Beth and Ted have actually been married for a full 3 weeks tomorrow. The wedding was incredibly beautiful and tons of fun. Here are just a few highlights.

Rehearsal Dinner. Maryland Crabcakes anyone?! Andrea (Beth's oldest friend and the best Maid of Honor I have ever had the privilege of seeing in action) was my date for the dinner since Matt stayed at the hotel with Noah. Beth and Ted are in the middle and Dan and Shannon are on the right.

Krista flew in from Denver to come to the wedding and was able to hang out with us and meet Noah on Saturday.

Anna, Kate and I represented the Girl's House in the wedding party. Beth was crazy organized, crazy calm, and as un-bridezilla as is possible.

Jess and Jimmy (pictured later) came up from NC for the wedding. Since they're vegetarians Matt ended up eating 3 steaks that night (dinner was served with filet and a crab cake for everyone...that's right folks, Maryland crab for Lauren 2 nights in a row)! The Cosmos were just the cherry on top.

Love this guy.

Here we all are...Krista, James and Southern, Mike and Meredith, Matt and me, Beth and Ted, Mark and Kate, Jimmy and Jessica, and Anna.

Where to start

Two weekends ago Noah rolled over unassisted for the first time! It was Sunday morning (the 27th) and I missed it! After getting up to feed Noah at 6 I went back to bed for a bit while Matt played with him. I woke up when I heard Matt cheering for Noah after the first time he succeeded (he's been working on this for a while). Thankfully Noah knew that I was sad I missed it the first time so he did it again for me right away (which I caught on video). Enjoy!
